Closest Regional Airports are listed below. Milan MXP & LIN are the two largest airports but the furthest, MXP is furthest west (longest train ride), LIN is a bit shorter as its further east. Both require small train rides from airport to Milano Centrale main station where the high speed trains depart from. Milano Bergamo (BGY) is closer than both but not on the main high speed rail network thus does not save as much time (regional trains much slower). Venice Marco Polo Airport (VCE) is closest major airport and is directly on the high speed rail network backbone roughly 1 hour to Lake Garda, so it is technically closer than Milan but flight availability to Venice may not be as easily accessible depending on airline (View train map below for scale).

MOST EFFICIENT ROUTESHigh Speed Train

The FrecciaRossa Italian high speed train network is by far the fastest way to navigate northern Italy as they have travel West to East with minimal stops along the way. From the Milano Centrale Airport to “Desenzano del Garda” stop is only the 2nd stop after Brescia from Milano and takes less than 1.5 hours to cover huge distances at nearly >300kmh! If deciding to visit Venice the weekend before the wedding you can take the high speed train direction from Venice to Garda in a little over an hour to the “Desenzano Del Garda” stop after Verona (on the west/left side of the lake). If taking the train up from Rome, Verona is where you would switch trains to go west towards Desezano

Luxury Taxi Service

Once you arrive to the Desenzano Del Garda train station, it’s a very small train station that sometimes has taxi cab line but at times it may not. For that reason we are providing a luxury VIP Mercedes car service (Phone number will be provided shortly which can be contacted via WhatsApp to avoid international texting rates). Typical rates from south to north side if lake typically 120-200 Euros depending on which level/model you choose. Normal Taxis are cheaper but no guarantee one will be awaiting you at the small station (especially if arriving late outside of normal work hours).

Important Considerations

DO NOT DELAY, BOOK HOTEL PROMPTLY

Gardone Riviera is a very unique destination location as it is comprised of mostly small quaint boutique hotels, most of them ranging from only 20-60 rooms typically. For that reason, none of the hotels there offer conventional room blocks for wedding groups (we attempted, simply not possible). Given May is “prime season” in Garda it is highly recommended you simply book the hotels directly from their official websites (links provided below). Fortunately, the hotel rates in mainland Italy are so reasonable that obtaining a great room at a reasonable rate should not be difficult provided you plan ahead and book your room early. The main boat dock that ALL GUESTS will be required to leave at on Saturday at 2:45PM SHARP is between Hotel Du Lac & Monte Baldo. If you wish to book another hotel nearby not listed that is totally fine to just be aware of the walking distance from the dock and plan accordingly as ALL guests must leave on the same boat to the island together so please be courteous to the other wedding guests by arriving on time (preferably a 10 min early as it will take some time for all guests to board).
