Closest Regional Airports (below). Milan MXP & LIN are the two largest airports, MXP is furthest west (longest train ride), LIN a bit shorter (more east). Both require small train rides from airport to Milano Centrale main station where the high speed trains depart from. Milano Bergamo (BGY) is closer but not on main high speed rail network thus doesn’t save much time (regional trains much slower). Venice Marco Polo Airport (VCE) closest major airport & directly on high speed rail network backbone roughly 1 hour to Lake Garda; closer than Milan but flight availability to Venice may not be as accessible depending on airline (View train map below for scale).

MOST EFFICIENT ROUTESHigh Speed Train

The FrecciaRossa Italian high speed train network is the fastest way to navigate northern Italy (travel West to East with minimal stops). From Milano Centrale Station to “Desenzano del Garda” stop is only 2 stops from Milano & takes less than 1.5 hours to cover huge distances at nearly >300kmh! If deciding to visit Venice, you can take the high speed train direction from Venice to Garda in a little over an hour to the “Desenzano Del Garda” stop after Verona (home of Romeo & Juliette). If taking the train up from Rome, Verona is the hub to switch trains west towards Desezano

Important Considerations

DO NOT DELAY, BOOK HOTEL PROMPTLY

Gardone Riviera is a very unique destination location as it is comprised of mostly small quaint boutique hotels, most of them ranging from only 20-60 rooms typically. For that reason, none of the hotels there offer conventional room blocks for wedding groups (we attempted, simply not possible). Given May is “prime season” in Garda it is highly recommended you simply book the hotels directly from their official websites (links provided below). Fortunately, the hotel rates in mainland Italy are so reasonable that obtaining a great room at a reasonable rate should not be difficult provided you plan ahead and book your room early.

The main boat dock that ALL GUESTS will be required to leave at on Saturday at 2:30PM SHARP . Therefore please be at the dock between Hotel Du Lac & Monte Baldo at 2:15PM SHARP. If you wish to book another hotel nearby not listed that is totally fine to just be aware of the walking distance from the dock and plan accordingly as ALL guests must leave on the same boat to the island together so please be courteous to the other wedding guests by arriving on time (preferably early as it will take some time for all 50 guests to board).
